WHEN NEW ENGLAND PRAYS

"Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days- you would not believe if you were told." (Habakkuk 1:5)

United action

1. Fifth Friday: Continue with this vision for grass-roots networking.

2. Other initiatives: We agreed that we would address further united action at one of our quarterly gatherings in 2009. Some suggestions are:

UShareNH is the fruit of growing partnerships between the State of New Hampshire and various community and faith-based organizations in meeting the needs of NH citizens. It serves as one example of united action.

2020 vision Bruce James, Director of Evangelism, Baptist Convention of New England, invites partnering in the Great Commission in NE. NE Alliance members will meet with members of the BCNE and others. Dick Kiernan reported on this proposal at the steering committee meeting on February 4.

Awakening America Alliance NE Alliance is partnering with AAA in their coming initiatives.

Reclaiming the Seven Mountains Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade, and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With a Mission, both heard from the Lord: if we are to impact any nation for Jesus Christ, then we would have to affect the seven spheres of society that are the pillars of any society. These seven pillars are business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family and religion. About a month later the Lord showed Francis Schaeffer the same thing.

The vision of the New England Alliance- video: "When New England Prays"

The New England Alliance is a six-state prayer alliance inviting all God’s people, from denominations to grass-roots, to focus on preparation (practical planning and networking), repentance, and united action for the purpose of seeking revival and awakening.

Biblical Unity

Our vision statement calls us to invite all of God's people to join in our alliance. In addition to our vision statement, NE Alliance has a statement of faith.

We agree that it pleases the Lord for us to invite all Christians to join us (Ps 133, Jn 13:34-35, Jn 17:23, Eph 4:2-3). At the same time, we realize that not all will come. We agree our focus is to please the Lord. In many cases the hindrances are more a matter of style or language, and we intend to be sensitive to one another as the Lord leads without "quenching the Spirit".

Goals for 2009

NE Alliance will continue to establish a six-state prayer network, involving an alliance of leaders, churches, and ministries. Prayer meetings, NE Alliance events and united action are the outgrowth of this goal.

State Networks

Each state commits to their own plans to build a network. In 2008 NE Alliance provided resources to establish state web sites. Other help may be considered, such as offering support for state coordinators/administrators.

NE Alliance Meetings

For the purpose of maintaining momentum without becoming burdensome, a combination of meetings were proposed at our core group conference call:

Four mandatory quarterly NE Alliance Steering Committee meetings in central locations. All agreed that we should alternate the steering committee meetings on Wednesdays and Saturdays when representatives are most available.

  1. Four optional quarterly state meetings with state leaders and intercessors.

  2. Fifth Friday grassroots meetings in regions and local areas

  3. Fall New England-wide event

We agreed that our annual 2009 event should be held during the Wisdom Way fall 10 days of prayer tentatively on September 26.
